We Found Our Waterloo

The men in my life indulged me yesterday so we went to tour The Abba Museum. It's an interactive experience and we had some fun! Even Lucas got in on the action. This was one museum where he didn't have to be too quiet.  David (reluctantly) and I (enthusiastically) did an audio recording of "Waterloo" and David, Lucas and I had a stage portrait taken. Remind me when we return, and if you're keen for an amusing experience with bad vocals, we can pass along the files. David and Lucas won't be giving up their day jobs and I won't be coming out of retirement. David quickly absented himself from the last room of the museum to be sure he didn't end up on stage for the karaoke experience.

Since we were close by, we went to Junibacken  for lunch. Swedish Meatballs again, and Jon and Lucas and I had fun playing inside Junibacken. Lucas seems to have a future in cooking and grocery stores as they are his favourite activities. We also got to enjoy a lively children's musical performance by experienced entertainers.

Our afternoon stroll had us pass by the oldest church in Stockholm. Lucas loves all the stroller rides and the fresh air so he ensures we get our exercise.

A word about fashion: sneakers are the only footwear worn outdoors by women. Wide pants with wide stripes are the "in" thing.

The weather in Stockholm changes constantly - down jacket liner with your rain coat one minute, and almost short sleeves the next. We have seen the sun the last couple of days which is such a nice reprieve from gloomy, wet skies.

We are blessed with stunning views of central Stockholm from our room. Lucas loves to sit by the windows and look out with Grandpa at all the activity happening below. And we can see it all. There are endless boats coming in and out of the harbour-- there was even someone kite-sailing on the canal on the weekend. We are very close to Central Station so he can see all of the trains coming in, and a circuitous route of firetrucks, ambulances, police cars, and regular automotive traffic keep him regularly entertained. He is his Grandpa's constant companion, not too interested in Grandma these days (I think I'm a reminder that Mom is out and about at her meetings.).

Lucas was quite mixed up in his time last night so being sleepless "older" people anyways, we volunteered to take the night shift. We got to see all of the cyclists that were out at 3:30 in the morning. Of course it was really light out at that time, already. Not sure where they were going. There were even more in a steady course at 4:30 a.m.

Look at the stormy skies
Typical Stockholm scene across the canal
Large ornate plazas adorn the waterfront everywhere.
There's a number of hotel/restaurant ships
We found a Science Fiction bookstore on one of our strolls that carried the latest books in two of the series that David loves, that aren't out yet in North America, so he was ecstatic. Book in hand, he always finds a quiet corner to read in or to watch the ships.

The wig-maker's shop. So many high quality goods in Stockholm.
A city under construction and the threat of rain
Not sure what this building is but very ornate gold statues on top and love the topiary trees
And taxis are in abundance with such a significant tourist population
Strolling down Gamla Stan, the Old Town
A fishing shop, it was beautiful from the outside with intriguing windows.
