Catching Up
Life with a toddler has been so busy, we're behind in our posts by a few days.
It was an unexpectedly sunshine-filled day on Thursday so we walked across much of the city. David and I had such a lovely day! We loved Copenhagen and highly recommend it to all of you. We wove our way through the embassy district on the way to the Little Mermaid statue. The grounds of the Kastellet showed off some great views of the city. David and I enjoyed a quick trip into the Danish Museum of Design which would be worth an in-depth investigation in the future. There is so much intriguing architecture throughout the whole city-- both classic and modern. We are proud of ourselves--we clocked sixteen kilometres of walking just on Thursday.
Jon has been an excellent tour leader.
We spent the afternoon at Tivoli Gardens -- it was a bonus to find something that appealed to everyone's interests, all in one place. Lucas loved the playground and the seesaw and climbing up the mountains with his mom. We took lots of photos of the gardens and it was lots of fun to watch all of the young kids enjoying all of the rides. They were far too adventurous for all of us, though Lucas loved his ride on the miniature postal carrier's car.
David and I went off exploring the Nordhavn neighbourhood and got a close look at all of the ships in the harbour.
Friday we did a five hour train trip to get from Copenhagen to Stockholm and were blessed with sunshine until we left Denmark. We've spent the rest of the day getting things organized in our new hotel. It is quite apparent that Stockholm is a very urban spot, unlike Copenhagen, so we are re-orienting ourselves to life in a big city. No sign of sun yet, just big rolling clouds, adding to the "noir" effect.
